Dynamic Dancing class w/ Rin @ HotPot Studios, Sacramento @ HotPot Studios
Nov 13 @ 8:20 am – 9:20 am
Dynamic Dancing class w/ Rin @ HotPot Studios, Sacramento @ HotPot Studios

Class Description:
Explore your own personal dance goals with technical drills and abstract exercises designed to help fine tune awareness of movement. We will focus on a different concept each week, from musicality to stage presence. Rounding it out with a fresh mini choreography every week, this class is ultimately centered around the music and feeling that bring dance to life. Arrive with an open mind and expect a fun challenge with a hint of intrigue.

Notes:
*Beginners are welcome — expect a fun challenge! Two years prior dance experience recommended. Class movements and musicality geared toward intermediate level. *Wear comfortable dance clothing. *Bring reusable water bottle and optional notepad/pen.

Teacher Bio:

Rin has developed a uniquely fluid and evolving voice in dance which offers a peculiar stretch beyond genres. With exposure spanning more than two decades, she has dabbled with movement forms such as ballet, kung fu, jazz, gymnastics, hip-hop, and more. She eventually took a deeper interest in fusion belly dance, which gradually morphed into what can be described as “experimental” fusion. Needless to say, the outcome is quite unique.

Rin’s profound passion for sound, paired with her music background in piano, has led her on an exhilarating path of electronic music composition in recent years. She experiments with her love of creating music and dance, occasionally combining the two in classes and performances. Rin engages in organic experimentation with “flow” in her personal practice. She often emphasizes awareness in her classes to invite students to tap into their direct experience, facilitating environments in which dancers can feel personally inspired by curiosity to develop their own vision.

WHAT IS UNMATA ITS?
ITS stands for Improvisational Tribal Style. This style of dance is a non verbal form of communication where groups can dance together using a specific vocabulary of movements communicating the timing and variations of the vocabulary. We like to compare Improvisational Tribal Style (ITS) to a language. When learning a new language, you have to learn the root words before forming a sentence.  Because of the similarity in learning UNMATA ITS to learning a new language, we recommend that students complete the UNMATA ITS Level 1 vocabulary before taking other levels of UNMATA ITS classes at Hot Pot Studios. For more details, check out the official ITS website.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? Wear something you can move and be comfortable in. We will dance the whole hour, so be prepared to sweat. Common gear is yoga pants, tank tops or sports bras. For your feet: barefoot, socks or dance shoes. Hot Pot has a hard wood floor, so no street shoes please.

WHERE SHOULD I PARK? Parking around the studio is metered and goes till 10pm. There are also garages within walking distance of the studio. You do not want to park in the lot behind the studio, as this is private parking and you will be towed.

If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us.

Unmata ITS Level 1&2 @ Hot Pot Studios | Sacramento | California | United States

Each session will leave you feeling strong, refreshed, connected to your body and ready to tackle the week ahead!

A certified ganja yoga instructor and bodywork practitioner for many years, Katy applies a mix of breath work, Vinyasa flow, self massage and body awareness techniques in every session, designed to offer participants a well-rounded mind and body experience.

Please BYOG (bring your own ganja), a yoga mat and water bottle.

Any human 21+ that arrives with an open mind ready to participate is welcome to attend. Please respect class and studio guidelines while in this lovely space.
