A modern Dance class taught by Katerina Corazza. Most recently Miss Corazza danced with the Caroline Liviakis Dance Company. She also trained in various circus arts at Kinetic Arts Center in Oakland. She choreographs using a circus flare fused with modern and ballet elements. All levels of movement experience are welcome.

Relax and unwind in this vinyasa and yin yoga hybrid class led by Lucky Box Club Co-Founder and YogaWorks trained yoga instructor Eliza Maroney.

Learn Tuvan style throat singing with Enrique Ugalde with Enrique Ugalde at Hot Pot Studios, Sacramento

Join us for this Khöömei workshop instructed by the most highly decorated Throat Singer outside of Tuva, Enrique Ugalde.
The workshop will take place from 2-4pm on July 8th. It will be held at Hot Pot Studios 1614 K St, Sacramento, CA 95814.
There is a $40 fee for the workshop.

We will learn the three main styles of Tuvan style throat singing: Kargyraa, Khöömei and Sygyt, their cultural and animistic contexts and application in traditional Tuvan folk music.
Enrique Ugalde has over ten years of teaching experience and has sang Tuvan style throat singing (Khöoömei) since 1998. Inspired by a live performance of Throat Singing Masters, Huun Huur Tu, he has gone on to tour the world with his own project Soriah and has traveled to the Central Asian Republic of Tuva nine times to perform, collaborate and compete as a Khöömeigie.
He won 3rd place in the 2008 Throat Singing Symposium in Tuva, the highest ranking of any non Tuvan in history.
He also won best foreigner at the 2008 Ustuu-Khuree Festival in Chadanaa Tuva.
In 2014, he won 2nd place in the Tuvan Nation Kargyraa Competition and in 2016, was recognized as the “Great Innovator of the Art of Tuvan Throat Singing”.

There is a limit of twenty students for this workshop.

The Vamp”: Burlesque/Jazz Age Inspired Fusion:
Saturday, August 11 – 3pm to 5pm
Set to the engaging melody of Duke Ellington’s ‘Black and Tan Fantasy,’ this workshop features a vampy and coquettish choreography inspired by the roaring 20’s jazz age and burlesque performers from the 40’s and 50’s. We will specifically focus on carriage and efficiently moving through space while projecting as much personality as possible. This dance is specifically designed to bring out the theatrical aspects of performance. The music is also perfectly arranged to focus on musicality. Part of the choreography, for example, is set to the bold horns in the music and part of it connects to the metronome like back beat of the music. Imagine if Mae West, Theda Bara and Rita Hayworth’s character from “Gilda” had a love child who became a star member of the Ziegfeld Follies and you get the idea of what this piece is going for.

The ins and outs of faster paced tribal fusion bellydance: Isolations, posture, extension and building choreography: learn the fundamentals of faster paced tribal fusion bellydance. Strong emphasis is placed on developing a correct posture, muscle conditioning and flexibility training. Sharp articulation emphasizing movement and rhythm. We will drill twists, locks, drops, squares, omis and shimmies working to develop the muscles in the lower abs and pelvic area to create crisp, strong hip articulation. We will then take it a step further and move on to drilling these movements within different planes of space, such as level changes and experimenting with variations on the left and right sides of the body. Special emphasis placed on drop turns and drop twists. Students will learn how to create combinations and link them into short choreographies. The goal is to give students the tools to more effectively help link movements together to create their own combinations and to ultimately create a very complete performance. We will also discuss the elements of good stage presence and methods to creating a very strong performance persona.

There ain’t no rest for the wicked here; Samba is all about fast footwork and integrated torso isolations that builds muscle and stamina. Uplifting and positive, you can’t help but laugh and smile your way across the dance floor. Strut like a peacock then hit the ground running like the  fast and the furious bad-ass you already are.  Joy and adrenaline rise as we sass and sweat in synchronized harmony… we Samba!

The Second Saturday Art Walk occurs the Second Saturday of each month between April and October, from 4pm to 9pm.  The boundaries of Second Saturday are 16th Street to 24th Street, and I Street to Capitol Mall. It’s a monthly art showcase that is dedicated to celebrating the diversity and talent through art, poetry, music and other mediums. The event includes art or performance, food and drink, and a lively atmosphere that celebrates the diversity and talent of our city.

Come enjoy the performances we offer you on the sidewalk in front of Hot Pot Studios. Besides our own troup and solo performers, we often have guests from all over the world.
